Join us for private access to MOFAD’s immersive experience Flavor: The World to Your Brain, plus an OPEN BAR featuring Calvin Eng’s MSG-martini recipe thanks to our friends at Matka Vodka. You’ll also get to experience a peanut butter and pickle sandwiches courtesy of Jacob’s Pickles, using Dwight Garner’s recipe featured in one of the evening’s films.
We’ll begin with two short documentaries that unpack the science, memory, and culture behind flavor. MSG: Mysterious Savory Grains, dir. Kyle Finnegan, explores how one ingredient became a global fascination and controversy. pb&p, dir. Eleanor Galloway, is a charming ode to an unexpected sandwich, inspired by Garner’s memoir The Upstairs Delicatessen.
After the screenings, we’ll hear from four brilliant voices in food and culture:
Moderator: Nazli Parvizi
Jess Eng, Fermentation Expert
Charlene Luo, Sichaunese American chef and creator of The Baodega
Arielle Johnson, Flavor Scientist
Wenqin Tang: Food Scientist II at C16 Biosciences
We have a few spots remaining and so hope you join us!
Warmly,
Maayan and the Ceres team
